International Literacy Day

Today is a day for celebrating Reading! Whether you are learning to read or reading to learn, Literacy is very important. The Florida Department of Education along with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection hosted three classes of second graders from Buck Lake Elementary School at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens this morning. Our special guest, First Lady Ann Scott, read the book Llama, Llama Red Pajama to the group before they embarked on some fun activities sponsored by Earth Fare, Michael’s, and the Parks service. October 6th is Read for the Record day. Be sure to grab a copy of Llama, Llama Red Pajama from your local library or bookstore and join in the Read for the Record event. Reading with your family helps children better understand the importance of reading and the joy it can bring to their life.
