Busch Gardens Summer Adventure

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is again offering high school students a world-class summer adventure that includes a semester of school credit.

For the second year in a row, Busch Gardens is excited to announce that students in grades 9 through 12 who are enrolled in Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Summer Resident Camps or Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) day camp program will be eligible to receive a semester (.5 units) elective credit.

Credits offered for Resident Camp will be in Elective Science with labs in Zoology or Environmental Science; or non-lab Physical Science. Credits offered for the Counselor-in-Training program will be elective credits in Child Development/Psychology. To receive school credit, will complete a short summer school application from Atlanta Country Day School.  The school will keep permanent records of each student’s participation and an official transcript will be sent to each participant, as well as to their school.

For students considering a career in the animal-care field, or the engineering of roller coasters, resident camp offers an invaluable opportunity to gain firsthand experience. Campers will work directly with animal experts, learn insider tips for designing and building amazing coasters, and immerse themselves in the behind-the-scenes operations of the park. “Camp has made such an impact on me and the career path I want to get into.  It helps show you what it’s truly like to be a zookeeper and take care of animals in a way that most people never get to see.” Kendra, 10th Grade.

For students considering a career in zoology, education or leadership, and past campers looking to take their passion for camp to the next level, the Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) program is perfect.  The C.I.T. program offers a real opportunity to learn from the best. Our expert educators will share their experience and knowledge on topics ranging from leadership to working with animals. Students will complete a specialized training course and work side-by-side with our camp counselors.
