More than 250 educators and school administrators from around the state will gather in Tampa on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 19 and 20) to share ideas for enhancing teacher effectiveness.
The event, called Empowering Effective Teaching, is being hosted by the Florida Association of District School Superintendents (FADSS) and Hillsborough County Public Schools.
Speakers will include national and state experts on subjects such as using value-added measures for school improvement, multiple measures used in evaluations, and the use of student perception surveys to gauge teacher effectiveness. School officials from several Florida school districts will talk about their experiences implementing the state requirements to revamp their teacher evaluations systems. Officials from Hillsborough County Public Schools, which just completed its second year under a new evaluations system, will participate in or lead several of the sessions.
The event, at the Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel, starts at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The Wednesday session starts at 8:15.
