Elementary Education K-6 Comps and Skills Survey

Committees of Florida subject matter experts convened at the Florida Department of Education (DOE) in Tallahassee, FL, throughout Fall 2012 in order to revise the competencies and skills for the Elementary Education (K-6) exam. The committees used the new Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs), Common Core Standards, and other appropriate standards (e.g., NGSSS) to guide the revision of the K-6 examination into four subtests:

Subtest 1: Language Arts and Reading
Subtest 2: Social Science
Subtest 3: Science
Subtest 4: Mathematics

The competencies and skills will serve as the basis for future test development activities and will go to the State Board of Education (SBE) for approval in Spring 2013. The finalized and approved competencies and skills will be posted to the DOE’s website in Spring 2013.
These draft competencies and skills can be reviewed and commented on through surveys located on the FLDOE Your Opinion Counts page. All information collected will be reported as group data.
